“What South Africa Looks Like Through Your Eyes”

Heritage Day 2026 — Instagram & Facebook giveaway of a bespoke laser-cut aluminium artwork

These rules govern the promotional competition conducted by Alsysco Aluminium Systems (“Alsysco”, “the Promoter”, “we”). By entering, you accept these rules in full. This is a promotional competition under section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”) and its Regulations. Personal information is processed under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

1. Promoter

The Promoter is Alsysco Aluminium Systems, a division of the AFMETCO Group, with showrooms in Cape Town, Johannesburg and KwaZulu-Natal. Enquiries: info@alsysco.co.za | www.alsysco.co.za. Official accounts for this competition: Instagram @alsyscosa and Facebook Alsysco SA.

2. Competition period

The competition opens at 08:00 SAST on Thursday, 24 September 2026 (Heritage Day) and closes at 23:59 SAST on Thursday, 8 October 2026 (the “Competition Period”). Entries received outside this window are invalid. The winner will be selected and notified by 17:00 SAST on Monday, 19 October 2026. Dates may be extended by Alsysco if posted on the official accounts before the original close.

3. Eligibility
  • Open only to natural persons who are South African citizens or permanent residents, aged 18 years or older on the date of entry, and who live in the Republic of South Africa.
  • The prize (including any optional installation) will only be fulfilled at a residential address in South Africa.
  • Employees, directors, contractors and agents of Alsysco, the AFMETCO Group, their advertising or digital agencies, accredited fabricator partners involved in producing the prize, and the immediate family of any of the above, may not enter.
  • Juristic persons (companies, trusts, clubs) may not enter.
  • One winner only. Previous Alsysco competition winners in the preceding six months may be excluded at the Promoter’s discretion.
  • Alsysco may require proof of identity, age and residential address before awarding the prize.
4. How to enter

No purchase is necessary. Standard data charges apply at the entrant’s cost.

There are two valid ways to enter during the Competition Period: a public post (preferred) or a private-account direct message. You must still follow Alsysco and comment “alsysco” on the official announcement in both cases.

Public-post entry: on a public Instagram or Facebook account:

  • Follow Alsysco on that platform (@alsyscosa / Alsysco SA)
  • Post an original proudly South African photo
  • Tag @alsyscosa or Alsysco SA and use at least one of #alsysco #heritageday2026 #metalart #proudlysouthafrican
  • Caption of 1–3 sentences
  • Comment alsysco on the official announcement post

Private-account entry: if the account is private:

  • Follow Alsysco on that platform
  • Comment alsysco on the official announcement post
  • During the Competition Period, DM @alsyscosa (Instagram) or Alsysco SA (Facebook) with (a) the original photo and (b) the 1–3 sentence caption

A DM without the comment, or a comment without the DM, is not a complete private-account entry.

You may enter once per platform. A public post and a DM of the same photo count as one entry. Hidden or deleted public posts will not count. DMs must still be in the official inbox at judging.

5. Entry standards and disqualification

Alsysco may refuse, remove or disqualify an entry that:

  • is not original, is stock photography, AI-generated as the primary image, or taken from another person without written permission;
  • depicts identifiable minors without a parent/guardian’s consent, or any person who has not agreed to the photo being used in this competition;
  • contains hate speech, political campaigning, nudity, illegal activity, or content that Alsysco reasonably considers offensive or inconsistent with a family brand;
  • uses a private account, fails to tag or hashtag as required, or is posted after close;
  • appears to use bots, purchased engagement, or multiple fake accounts.
  • fails to complete either the public-post steps or the private-account DM steps, fails to tag or hashtag on a public entry, or is posted or messaged after close.

The photograph must be suitable for adaptation into a laser-cut metal artwork. Very busy, low-contrast, heavily filtered, or text-heavy images may score lower because they do not translate well into cut metal. Alsysco’s design team will stylise the winning image; the finished piece will be an interpretation, not a photographic reproduction.

6. Prize

There is one (1) prize: a bespoke, custom laser-cut aluminium artwork designed from the winner’s entered photograph.

The prize includes:

  • Professional adaptation and stylisation of the winning photograph into a laser-cut-friendly design by Alsysco (or its nominated fabricator/artist).
  • Manufacture of one aluminium artwork in a finish and size determined by Alsysco after consulting the winner, within the design limits below.
  • At the winner’s choice: (a) professional installation at the winner’s South African home by Alsysco or an Accredited Fabricator Partner; or (b) collection or courier of the finished piece for self-installation. Self-installation is at the winner’s risk and cost of any tools, fixings beyond those supplied, or making-good.
  • Design and fulfilment limits (unless Alsysco agrees otherwise in writing):
  • Maximum finished size in the region of 800 mm on the longest edge (or equivalent area). Exact size depends on the design, material thickness and structural practicality.
  • Aluminium sheet, powder-coated or mill-finish as selected from Alsysco’s available options. Colour choice is from a shortlist Alsysco provides.
  • The piece is decorative wall or screen artwork. It is not a structural balustrade, window, door, or load-bearing element and is not offered as a SANS-regulated building component.
  • Installation (if chosen) is limited to a single, reasonably accessible interior or protected exterior residential wall in South Africa. It excludes high-rise work requiring specialised access equipment beyond a standard residential install, structural alterations, electrical work, or making-good of existing finishes beyond neat fixing.
  • Travel for installation is included within a reasonable distance of an Alsysco showroom or Accredited Fabricator (generally major metros). Remote or farm locations may be fulfilled by courier of the piece only, or the winner may contribute extra travel cost — Alsysco will confirm this when the winner is verified.

The prize has no cash alternative, is not transferable, and may not be exchanged for Alsysco windows, doors, balustrades or other product. Alsysco may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if manufacture becomes impracticable.

Indicative retail value will be confirmed on the official post; for CPA record-keeping Alsysco will retain a valuation of the artwork and any installation labour. The prize is awarded unconditionally once the winner is validly determined and has completed verification.

7. Judging and winner selection

This is a judged competition, not a random draw. Valid entries will be assessed by an Alsysco panel (marketing and design) against:

  • Originality and a clear, proudly South African theme;
  • Strength of the 1–3 sentence caption;
  • Visual suitability for laser-cut metal (silhouette, contrast, composition);
  • Compliance with these rules.

The panel’s decision is final. Alsysco may shortlist finalists and request a higher-resolution file before selecting the winner. If the selected winner cannot be contacted or fails verification within five (5) working days, Alsysco may select the next-ranked entry.

The winner will be announced on Alsysco’s Instagram and Facebook accounts and contacted via the account used to enter and/or by direct message. The winner must then provide a full name, ID number, contact number, email, and delivery/installation address.

8. Licence to use the photograph and winner publicity

By entering, (including by direct message), you grant Alsysco a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, adapt, stylise, reproduce and publish your entered photograph and caption — and the resulting metal artwork — for the competition, prize manufacture, Alsysco’s website, social media, brochures, showrooms and other marketing, with credit to your social handle where reasonably practical.

You warrant that you own the photograph (or have all rights needed) and that granting this licence does not infringe any third-party rights. You will indemnify Alsysco against claims arising from your entry.

The winner agrees that Alsysco may publish their first name, city/province, handle, and photographs of the finished artwork (and, with consent, of the installed piece in situ) for a reasonable period after the competition. Alsysco will not publish the winner’s street address or identity number.

9. Personal information (POPIA)

Alsysco is the responsible party. We collect only what we need to run the competition, verify eligibility, manufacture and deliver the prize, and announce the winner: name, social handle, contact details, identity document (for verification), and address. Personal information collected includes photographs and captions sent by post or direct message. DM entries are stored only to run the competition and produce the prize.

We will not sell your information. We may share it with an Accredited Fabricator Partner or courier solely to make and deliver the prize, on the same confidentiality terms. Records of the competition (including these rules and the winner’s details) will be retained for at least three (3) years as required by the CPA.

Entering is not consent to general marketing. If you wish to receive Alsysco news after the competition, you may opt in separately. You may request access to or correction of your personal information by emailing info@alsysco.co.za.

10. Platform disclaimer

This competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta, Instagram or Facebook. You are providing information to Alsysco, not to Meta. Instagram and Facebook terms of use still apply to your own account activity.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by the CPA and other law, Alsysco is not liable for late, lost or corrupted entries; platform outages; or damage arising from self-installation. Nothing in these rules excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by Alsysco’s negligence, or for any right that cannot be limited under the CPA.

If installation is chosen, the installer will take reasonable care of the winner’s property. Pre-existing defects in walls or structure remain the homeowner’s responsibility.

12. General
  • Alsysco may amend these rules or suspend the competition if required by law, platform policy, or circumstances beyond its control, by posting an update on the official accounts.
  • If any clause is unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
  • South African law applies. The courts of South Africa have exclusive jurisdiction.
  • A copy of these rules is available on request from info@alsysco.co.za and will be linked from the official competition post. Alsysco will retain these rules for three years after the competition ends.
